THIS LOW SET POST WAR BLOGGER RENOVATER STUDENT WIFE AND MUM...

My heart is the fullest when...

Today historically being family day has been a day spent with family even though my family is so far away.

I recently connected with my beautiful step sister and half brother and what a wonderful rich time it has been.

So often when you are taking on a mammoth task you lose site of the important things - family... So fellow bloggers and renovators - take this moment today to appreciate the things and people that make your heart full - switch off the TV, put down the paintbrush, close the door of the shed and come in for a moment to appreciate the ones who fill your heart.

Tomorrow is another day.

THE KITCHEN - OH WHAT A WORK IN PROGRESS...

My Kitchen ...

  • It started with a vision
  • I had a foggy idea
  • I couldn't find exactly what I wanted
  • Then realized I would have to compromise
  • The Bunnings Kaboodle kitchen planner was my friend
  • At the end it was a combination kitchen as you will see...
  • The handles are different (heritage) and the dishie died a month        after the reno was completed - go figure....

My kitchen before - we kept the carcasses

By Bunnings island bench - handiwork of Brett

Beautiful heritage entrance... also made with scrap timber

What we looked like before - on date of sale

I looked at heritage homes and it was all about the                                   entrances so wonderful hubby got cracking with                                    some spare timber

Oh dear - the thing of changing your mind..... a woman thing?

Dear Blogger...

The thing no one tells you

The thing no one tells you about renovating together is that you are going to have differing opinions and the secret is compromise compromise compromise.

My dear husband and I have not got it right yet but we are getting better at it as time goes by.

What I have learned is that all items pertaining to the low set post war HERITAGE home is more expensive - on a tight budget: the handles are more expensive, the corbels are more expensive and in general the look is more difficult to achieve, thereby having a greater cost.

Gumtree, Ebay are local council pickups are my friends and keeping my eyes open for sales.

The sad thing is though we have renovated everything and not one item of furniture has been left unpainted we have still overcapitalized greatly...

Wait for my kitchen photos though, it was a real combination effort....

I

MY AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL LAUNDRY IN A CUPBOARD - would you like to see whats inside....

A simple passage cupboard - before - Where Brett hung is clothes

THAT GATE - I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED....

Aesthetically correct - yes Practical - not so much

"Mrs Equidistant" had to have the small gate and big gate the same width - for aesthetic purposes - but of course aesthetics and practicality - WHENCE THE TWO DON'T CROSS

The sympathetic heritage gate renovation .....

If anyone ever reads this - yes - posts                                                       are needed and have to be concreted in....
